Installing
the Razer Mouse Device
The Razer mouse device is packaged with the Razer Mouse, and a
cd-rom. The cd-rom will contain all the drivers and files necessary for
installation. For both PS/2 and USB versions the software must be installed
first before the user plugs the Razer mouse into the appropriate port.
Note: If the
Razer mouse is initially installed for USB and the user wishes to install
for PS/2, we recommend that the user re-install the driver. Either install
from the cd-rom or download the newest version from the web site. Follow
the instructions for the PS/2 install.
Following are instructions and screen shots on installing
the Razer mouse in Windows 9x. For installing in Windows 2000/XP, please plug in
the USB Razer mouse before starting this install.

Insert the Razer CDROM. Click on setup.exe on the
CDROM if installation does not start automatically. An Unpacking screen
will appear.

Shortly after the setup unpacks all the files, the
Setup progress bar screen will appear.

Upon 100% setup completion the InstallShield wizard
will guide the user through the rest of the process beginning with the
welcome page. Press Next.

The Software Agreement screen will appear. The user
must press Yes to continue with the installation of the Razer mouse.

The Select Components screen appears. Select the
mouse type (for Win98 Only). Press Next.

The Choose Destination Location screeen appears.
The user can press Next to select the default location or the user can
press the Browse button to opt for a different destination folder and then
press Next.

The Select Program Folder appears. The user can add
the icons to the default location or can type or select a new folder. Press
Next.

The progress bar screen will appear. The user can
click Cancel button to exit out of the setup.

Here the instructions will begin to go into two different
directions. Step 10 a through ? begins the PS/2 setup. Step 11 a through
? begins the USB setup.

For Windows 95 users without DirectX 5.0 or above
the following DirectX Version screen will appear. Upon completion of loading
the Razer mouse, the user will need to run the dxsetup.exe from the DirectX
directory to enable the full functionality of the mouse. Press OK.

The PS/2 Setup Complete screen will appear. Select
Yes or No and then Press Finish.

If the user selected Yes, the computer system will
automatically shutdown.

The user will need to plug in the Razer mouse while
the computer is shutdown.

The user will need to startup the computer system.

Two scenerios may occur when a user installs the
driver.

If there was never a PS/2 mouse plugged into the
computer, then upon rebooting the windows system will bring up the ‘New
Hardware Detected’ menu and will install the Razer driver.

If there was a PS/2 mouse already plugged into the
computer, then upon rebooting A Razer PS/2 Pick menu will appear. The user
may see more than one option listed. To use our Razer driver, the user
must select the entry listed that represents the original mouse that was
plugged into the port where the Razer mouse resides. We do not recommend
replacing a laptop built in pointing device driver. Press OK.

The RazerPik screen will appear asking the user to
reboot the computer system. Press Yes.
Note: After the
reboot, the system may ask for the Windows 95 or 98 cd-rom to install some
additional files.

Begins the USB setup instructions.

The USB Setup Complete screen will appear. Press
Finish.

The computer system automatically reboots. The user
can plug the Razer mouse into the USB port at any time during or after
reboot.
Note: After the
reboot, the system may ask for the Windows 98 cd-rom to install some additional
files.
